5Good Card
By Jason
I have had this card installed now for 3 days. It replaced a 6870. When I opened the box on this card I was quite happy to see it's a couple of inches smaller than the 6870. This card is also alot quieter than my old 6870. I am not a hard core gamer, I only play WoW and Diablo 3. WoW runs on Ultra with 100+ FPS on a 27" Acer LED. I've read alot of reviews on other websites that complain about this card failing within a Day. Maybe I got lucky or maybe Sapphire has worked out the problems they were having when this card first came out. Either way I would glady recommend this card to anyone.

4Very Nice Upgrade
By IDICERI
Note*: You must register card online within 30 days of purchase to qualify for lifetime warranty or else this warranty is limited to 1 year.

The important stuff out of the way I bought this card to upgrade from my first card which was a gt 240, which pales in comparison to this baby.

Pros:

*One of the best cards for its price range.

*Competes very well with the GTX 570.

*Very quiet & cool

* Maxes out graphics settings off all games that I own example: Skyrim, StarCraft 2, Diablo III & still runs very well. (Eager to test it on Guild Wars 2)

Cons:

*The steel plate of the graphics card came slightly bent at the end. Gave me a little bit of trouble installing it in place(No worries bent it back in place; about 2 mm).

*When I checked for the warranty I did not find it in the box. I read the booklet that came with & it told me I had to register within 30 days or else warranty is valid for only 1 year instead of a lifetime. This was a minor inconvenience.

Would give it a 4.5/5

Will update this review in 3-6 months.

5Awesome performance and low power usage + Lifetime Warranty
By Anthony
I just got this card today and so far it is working great. I was in the market for a new card and the 7800 series just came out so I did my research and found the 7850 to be a great bang for the buck. I was hesitant at first about the Visiontek brand but I took a chance and the card is solid and seems to be top notch. It includes a lifetime warranty for which I have read good and bad about visionteks support. Lets hope I never have to use it. So far the card is performing flawlessly. I will update if anything changes.

Pros
- Performs in the range of a GTX 570 with anti-aliasing and antistropic turned on.
- Super low power usage due to 28nm process. The closet competitor the GTX 560ti 448 uses also 100watts more on average then this card and the 570 uses even more then that.
- Lifetime Warranty
- Whisper Quiet even under load. Was worried not having seen any reviews of this specific card and it being single fan.
- Runs fairly cool.
- Single 6-pin power connector.

Cons
- Was $10 more than other brands and is stock clocked.

5Fast, Cheap, Easy
By Justen S.
I purchased the HD 7850 on Black Friday for $149.99, and what a deal! I went back and forth debating between a GTX 560 ti and this card. So glad I chose the 7850!

Coming from a burned out Sapphire HD 4890 1GB to a HD 6670 1GB to this 7850 2GB.

PROS:
*Super Fast - Was able to run Far Cry 3 on Ultra, however for the sake of the extra frames I backed it down to "Very High". An acceptable compromise, as it still looks amazing, and Far Cry is a beefy game.

(Post Overclocking Performance)
Assassins Creed 3 - Ultra.
Battlefield 3 - Ultra.
Planetside 2 - Ultra (50FPS in warpgate, 30FPS in battles, needs more optimization)
Borderlands 2 - Ultra with PhysX on High
Arma II/Dayz - Ultra (Oh my god, I had no idea what I was missing until I was able to bump this up to ultra. The game is beautiful and I can see so much more.

*Easy Overclock - I studied up on this before I received the card, and many people were posting successful overclocks. Using MSI Afterburner I was immediately able to take it up to 1050Mhz Core and 1400 Mhz Memory. Could probably take it higher, but it's day one, figured I'd let it break in a little bit more.

*Easy Installation - Coming from an existing AMD card, the installation was a breeze. Just grabbed the latest drivers off the web and was off.

*Packaging - The box and packaging material was immaculate. Looked like it had been packed very well for something so delicate, Good Job Amazon!

*LIFETIME WARRANTY! - This is huge as my old card burned up RIGHT outside the warranty period. It's a huge relief to know that my card is covered for life!

CONS:
(Nitpicking things, these are all minor.)

*Large Card - If you have multiple PCI-e devices, this may be a snug fit.

*Plastic Shroud - Plastic shroud is in an awkward position for plugging and unplugging the 6 pin molex power connector.

Bang for buck this is the best graphics card around, no doubt. The overclocking potential allows it to come close to the higher end graphics cards for a fraction of the price. Seriously BUY THIS CARD!

Great Auto-OC Capability
By H. Yeh
Pros: OC'ing couldn't be any easier combined with an i5-3570K.
Running at 4.5 GHz using the provided ASUS Suite autotune in extreme mode (using a Corsair H50 WC). My son is finally able to take full advantage of his HD7970.

Cons: Words of warning when installing this in a CM Storm Scout case and using a Sapphire 7970 GPU it will require notching both the Optical Drive and HDD cages or trimming away part of the fan shroud on the card. The MSI MB I replaced had the upper PCIE slot aligned perfectly to allow longer cars to fit into the upper drive cage.

Other Thoughts: No IIDE header was a disappointment, but my fault for not doing my due diligence. In any case it's an added incentive to ditch the legacy hardware. "Network Icontrol" will lower your uploads speed and should be disabled after installing the suite.

Great for the price.
By Frederick S. Elisberg
Very versatile! Plenty of card slots for gaming graphics goodness and multiple monitors. Two legacy PCI slots. Great overclocking utils.

Almost returned this board because of misaligned mounting of the I/O connectors in the upper left corner. The two USB 2.0 sockets were not lining up with the back-plate because that part was not soldered flush on the circuit board. I was able to tweak the case near the mounting screw enough to pull that corner of the board down so the USB sockets were in line with the back-plate. If you get one of these boards, make sure to first check the mounting of the I/O ports by aligning the back-plate that comes with it. One star deducted for poor QC.

4.5 stars of 5, outstanding performance
By David
Everything about this board is outstanding. I especially like the onboard digital audio out. The chipset is rock solid. The ONLY reason I am not giving 5 out of 5 is that the thin aluminum plate that inserts into the case for the ports is a bit difficult to work with, and VERY sharp. Despite experience and some care, I cut myself and have to believe there is a better way to make these.

Not as good as I thought
By David
This was an upgrade from an old card (2002), I have to say that sound quality is pretty good compared to both the old card and onboard sound, after all asus has pretty good reviews on their past generation cards.

Thing is... I'm quite disappointed about the drivers, they could be a lot better. First of all they seem as old as the drivers of my last card.

You have to installed the drivers from the disc, because the ones on the page won't work, and don't forget to run them with administrator privileges or the installation will hang after about an hour of waiting.

Once the drivers are installed, you will get options to set how many channels your input has and how many speakers you have (this is not detected automatically like with other cards), for instance, if you have 5.1 speaker set up, then you'll have to set an output of 6 channels and an input of 2 channels to listen music and change the input to 6 channels if you're gonna watch a movie or play a game with 5.1 support, then change it back to listen music again... This can be kind of annoying after a while :/ specially if you watch a lot of movies with 5.1.

If you connect some headphones in the front audio jacks they'll be detected automatically and the drivers will set the output to headphones (don't forget to set your input as two channels for music). But once you disconnect them, the drivers won't set the output back to the speakers so you have to it manually (I thought the card died because no sound was coming out of the speakers but it was just this setting).

Hope this helps!

Great (low profile) soundcard for your HTPC
By D. Mungin
I purchased this sound card because the motherboard in my HTPC doesn't have HDMI or optical out, but my sound system only accepts those two methods for inputting audio. I needed a low profile soundcard, due to the size of my HTPC case, but I didn't want to spend too much. The ASUS Xonar line of cards fit my needs, so that is how I ended up with this card. I opted for the DSX rather than the DGX because it can encode audio into DTS when outputting via optical.

I was worried that adding a sound card to my system because they always seem to have various incompatibility or stability issues. Despite this, I'm happy to say that I haven't had any issues since installing the card. I did initially install the card in a full size (16x) PCIe slot, and I had to move it to a 1x slot before the PC would recognize it. I'm not sure why this would matter...but look out for it if you are having issues with your install. As far as the output, I'm no audiophile so I probably can't comment on any sound quality increase or decrease seen when using this card over the motherboard's integrated sound. It sounds good to me, but this probably has more to do with my Sony sound bar than this card vs another.

The one downside (which has been brought up in other reviews) is that the software for this card (and I assume other ASUS sound cards from this line) looks terrible and is way too confusing. The interface looks similar to an application I would have installed on windows 95, and I'm still not sure if I have the correct settings selected for my setup. I got it to the point where my sound system is showing the dolby symbol or DTS symbol when I watch TV or movies...so I assume I am outputting a surround signal, which is what I want.

Having said all this, the bottom line is that there aren't actually that many options for low cost and low profile audio card. For most of us, on-board audio is probably good enough, but if you are reading this review then obviously you probably have some random reason (like me) for needing an add-in card. If that is the case, then don't hesitate to pick up this card. It does the job well with little setup hassle and (in my experience) no stability issues.

Update: I'm adding this update to my review because although initially I thought I had avoided any of the stability issues sound cards are known for, I was wrong. A short while after installing this card I started getting BSODs about twice a week. For a while I ignored it as I was being lazy and it wasn't happening enough for my to want to troubleshoot it. Eventually however, it was happening enough that I looked into what was going on. Long story short, it was the sound card drivers. Luckily, there are enough people out there with similar issues that someone has developed open source drivers to replace the faulty ones provided by ASUS. If you search the web for "ASUS XONAR Unified drivers" you will find them. Once I got rid of ASUS's drivers and installed these my BSODs were gone. Hopefully this information can save someone the headache and troubleshooting I went through before finding a fix.

Good sound card
By Nabi
I was looking for a good sound card for music and did some researches on google.
I was original purchased sound blaster recond 3D. It was sound good but its driver
was terrible. You can see many reviews on this card that have the same Dolby digital
live broken problem. So i returned it and tried asus due to good reviews.
I was interested in xonar stx but i noticed it was 2 years old. So stx was released
for a little while now. So i went to xonar dsx as a spare card while i am waiting
for asus to release a new great sound card for music. Actually there is a good one
just released called Asus phoebus but it is more for gamming.
This xonar dsx has no problem with driver and is sound good and even better if changing
op amp to LM 4562NA.

pros :
- Sound good and clear(recommend to change op amp to LM 4562NA).
- DTS connect

cons :
- When shuting down pc there are 2 static noises commong out from speakers.
This does not happen to my onbouard sound.

The Little Engine That Could
By SweetPotato
First off, I must state that I was building a budget gaming PC for a friend and I was looking for a VERY good card at <$110. After a little bit of forum browsing, I didn't even see any mentions of anything below an x50 series for Nvidia or an xx6x series for AMD. I searched Amazon for some cards under $100 and finally came across this baby. The card is very small and draws all its power from the PCIe slot, which was a big plus for me as I don't want to deal with any extra plugs. Here are the pros and cons:
PROS
-Small
-Amazing performance for the cost
-Power-efficient
-Amazing performance for any cost
-~760MB of usable 128-bit bus memory gets good performance at decent resolutions
CONS:
-DDR3 memory is slightly out-of-date
-Even 1GB of memory is overkill, the most this GPU can process is ~760MB; The 2GB version is a gimmick

Another thing, don't be fooled by the large amount of pipelines, the 384 pipelines of this architecture are equivalent to 192 of the Fermi architecture (Older 4xx series)

Plays Starcraft 2 at highest graphic settings
By Michael F
I have this pre-installed in my Dell XPS system bought this year, it plays Starcraft 2 on the highest graphic settings perfectly. I also use a lot of photoshop, web design, and watch a lot of movies. There has not been an issue at all. Its not the top of the line, but i would like to see what those "top of the line" graphics cards are doing that this "lower model" is not.

Great compute efficiency
By Jorge Ramos
This card is fabricated with a 28 nm process making it extrememly efficient in GFLOPs/Watt.

4 GT 640 equal 1 GTX 670
5 GT 640 equal 1 GTX 680

when comparing GFLOPs. They also cost the same if purchased separately. But you save both in space and energy efficiency if you buy one of the higher end cards. I've been playing around with the afterburner software and the feature I like the most is taking live videos of your monitor output with no extra cables, but I've found that it does not always respond and restarts are required to make it work. Maybe its my setup, but if you want to capture your video game outputs you should look anywhere else and not rely in this free software.

Hardware-wise the card performs as it should... great for CUDA computing!

Now Everyone Wants a Dual Monitor Setup!
By Vincent E. Martin
Pros: Small form factor, Dual DVI or VGA output; 512MB SDRAM

Cons: None so far

Bottom-Line: In the VisionTek Radeon HD 4350 we have picked a sure winner. Not only is the adapter affordable, but it delivers outstanding performance with plenty of room to grow.

Over the years I have found that one is much more productive with a lot of screen real estate. The wider the display of course, the more information one can squeeze between the corners. But, not everyone, including me, can afford a wide screen display, so we fall back on the next best thing, the dual monitor set-up.

Microsoft Windows XP Service Pack 2 made attaching multiple monitors to one computer infinitely easier, and Microsoft Windows 7 only takes this functionality to the next level by automatically detecting each new display, numbering it, and making it read for use. Of course all of this nifty functionality is depended on the video card/adapter; it has to be able to support two or more monitors. At work the move is on the place two monitors on everyone desk. Our display adapter of choice: the PCI-E based VisionTek RADEON HD 4350 DMS59 Video Card with 512MB of DDR2 VRAM onboard.

The Adapter

The short form factor, low profile VisionTek Radeon HD 4350 graphics adapter card uses the ATI Radeon GPU to provide multi-monitor support (up to 2 displays). Although the card is advertised as a low profile unit, the card is convertible to standard ATX design with (included) tall bracket for standard chassis.

Combining completely new and efficient ultra-threaded core architecture with ATI's revolutionary Avivo video and display technology, the VisionTek Radeon HD 4350 DMS59 offers full support for Microsoft DX10.1 and DX9. The VisionTek Radeon HD4350 DMS59 is ideal for office productivity, modest gaming, multimedia, and other workstation applications.

Installation (Hardware/Software):

Installation of the VisionTek Radeon HD 4350 DMS59 is a pretty straight forward affair; the card sits comfortably in any available PCI-e slot. Most of our installations are in Dell GX 500 series desktop computers wherein there is little room to spare, so the small form factor design of the card is most welcome. Once locked into place the VisionTek Radeon HD 4350 DMS59 was ready to use with Windows XP SP2/3, or in a small number of cases, Windows 7 Enterprise.

The box includes cables to connect dual monitors via DVI or VGA; I chose DVI hooking the cables to Dell 190P series displays. It's worth noting that even though the card is installed and providing output for dual monitors, the integrated display adapter will still work (depending on BIOS settings). On my computer, a Dell 9000 series workstation I utilize both the VisionTek Radeon HD 4350 adapter and the integrated video adapter with Windows 7 Enterprise installed.

Once in place I powered on the PC. I skipped the software installation, but installed the driver stack for a 64-bit OS. Once that chore was complete I used Windows 7 display properties to configure the various cards and assign the appropriate numbers to my (3) monitors. That's it, the whole install process took less than 10 minutes to accomplish including the BIOS configuration.

First Impressions:

I like this card, a lot! Even without the installation of the VisionTek (ATI) specific software, the adapter's performance is exceptional, however the included software does deliver an imposing set of tools that give one unmatched control over the graphics environment, but what I use my business computer for the overhead would not be worth the effort.

The VisionTek Radeon HD 4350 is a decent dual-port video graphics card. The picture is clear, crisp, bright, and well defined; the colors are vibrant and true to life; the text is sharp and remarkably in-focus and crisp; and the monitor flickers not a bit even at refresh rate of 60Hz. I am seeing images in a whole new light with the VisionTek Radeon HD 4350; the colors no longer blend together in a confusing mix of off-hued pixels; indeed colors are realistic down to the minutest of details.

I am not a gamer, nor a graphics designer, so I will come nowhere close to putting this card through its true paces, or realizing the full potential of the PCI-e, on-board processor, SDRAM technology. Nonetheless I like the feeling of knowing that I have barley touched the potential of the card, that as I place new demands on it, it will deliver without hesitation.

Video, VCD and DVD playback are the most impressive improvement over the VisionTek Radeon HD 4350. Video playback through the VisionTek Radeon HD 4350 is outstanding at the standard size, and I am happy to report that image quality suffers only minutely at full screen with DVD, VCD, .ASF, .MOV, or Mpeg formats. And of course GoTo Meeting, WebEx, and other video conferencing/ sharing technologies present no issue for the adapter.

Conclusions:

In the VisionTek Radeon HD 4350 we have picked a sure winner. Not only is the adapter affordable, but it delivers outstanding performance with plenty of room to grow. ATI is one of the oldest and most trusted names in computer graphics, and the VisionTek Radeon HD 4350 continues their tradition of offering superior products at a reasonable price. If you are looking for the perfect mate for Windows 9.xx / 2000 /XP, or Windows 7 at or slightly above the $100.00 price-point, look no further than the VisionTek Radeon HD 4350.

Good product
By Mr. M
I have a modest computer w/ only a couple available PCIex1 slots (not PCIe x16) and wanted to run 4 monitors w/ out breaking the bank. Bought 2 and it worked out great on my win7 box b/c they were (a) PCIe x1, (b) didn't need an external power source (c) slim and didn't take up 2 slots like other cards (d) came w/ the 2 connector adapter and (e) new enough that AMD/ATI still offers good driver support. I'm not a gamer so didn't consider any performance aspects of the card. I cared about getting the screen realestate.

This is the card you want to ressurect a DELL E310 with a PCI Express x1
By Aaron Griffith
I bought the Readeon 4350 and it worked instantly no problems. The dell does find it and does call it an "audio device" at first. Do not use the "wizard" to load the drivers. Just go into the "device manager" and "right click" the device and choose to install or update drivers. Then choose to load them from a location of your choice. Tell it to find the drivers on the driver disc that is loaded in your disc drive.

I can get online now and play WORLD OF TANKS no problem. And I'm running it at a
very high quality. Very happy.

(Before putting in card)
Turn on Dell.
Press F2 at Blue DELL loading.
Enter bios. Go to Video.
Primary Video. Press enter.
The video is set on AUTO. Set it to ONBOARD.
(If you don't do this befor you put in the card your PC will be in conflict and the monitor will not turn on.)
Now go to MY COMPUTER and RIGHT CLICK.
CLICK MANAGE. Go to DEVICE MANAGER. DISABLE ONBOARD VIDEO.
Power down.
NOW
Place card in. Power on.
(Now you will go in and load the drivers for the card. Power down. Power up and enter the bios again and set it back to auto. Back out of the bios and SAVE. Swap the video cable. Reboot.)
